PRSSA is a pre-professional organization for students interested in gaining valuable experience in the practice of public relations. Students in Journalism, RTVF, and Speech Communication majors are especially encouraged to join the ULM chapter, but membership is open to all who are interested. The chapter meets at least monthly during the academic year, and participates regularly in opportunities provided by the national organization. In 1998-99, the ULM chapter won the national competition with their "You CAN Make A Difference!" campaign on behalf of the Aluminum Association and Habitat for Humanity. The ULM chapter has its own student-run PR firm, Progressive Productions. Dr. Bette J. Kauffman, Head of Mass Communications, is the chapter advisor.
