408. INTERNSHIP. 1-2 cr. Maximum, 2 hrs. Limited to advanced students. A field experience under the general supervision of a faculty member and the direct supervision of an industry professional. Application must be made in the first month of the semester prior to enrolling in RTVF 408. A maximum of three combined hours of RTVF 308 and 408 credit can be applied toward the degree requirements. Prerequisite: RTVF 308, completion of at least 24 hours of RTVF coursework, an earned GPA of 2.5 or higher in all courses required for the degree, and approval of faculty advisory committee.
411. SCRIPT WRITING. 3 cr. Examination and preparation of scripts for all long-program formats, with emphasis on writing and marketing radio, television, and film drama and documentaries. Prerequisite: RTVF 217.
414. ADVANCED FILM PRODUCTION. 3 cr. The sound motion picture from concept to completion. Participation in producing a 16mm motion picture. Prerequisite: RTVF 314, 315, and concurrent enrollment in RTVF 415.
415. ADVANCED FILM PRODUCTION LABORATORY. 1 cr. Application of principles covered in RTVF 414. A $10 fee is charged each student to help defray expenses related to this course. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in RTVF 414.
417. BROADCAST NEWS PRODUCING. 3 cr. Newsroom procedures for the electronic media, including story assignment, copy editing, news story packaging, newscast management, and organizing and managing newsroom operations. Students will prepare newscasts for the electronic media.
Prerequisite: RTVF 337, 338, and Junior standing.
422. BROADCAST NEWS RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. 3 cr. A study of the social and ethical issues which impact the responsible electronic news practitioner. Prerequisite: RTVF 337, 338, and Junior standing.
424. AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION. 3 cr. A study of the elements and methods of audience and other related research, and application of audience measurement to the electronic media. Prerequisite: RTVF 309, and Junior standing.
427. STATION MANAGEMENT. 3 cr. Organization and administration of broadcast stations and of other electronic media systems: day-to-day operation, community ascertainment, promotion, and economic aspects of electronic media management. Prerequisite: Junior standing.
431. ADVANCED VIDEO PRODUCTION. 3 cr. Consideration of all elements in video production from concept to completion. Prerequisite: RTVF 331, 332, and concurrent enrollment in RTVF 432.
432. ADVANCED VIDEO PRODUCTION LABORATORY. 1 cr. Application of principles covered in RTVF 431. A $10 fee is charged each student to help defray expenses related to this course. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in RTVF 431.
440. BROADCAST SALES AND PROMOTION. 3 cr. An in-depth study of the electronic media sales process from "prospecting" to servicing accounts, with emphasis on adapting traditional sales techniques to the special problems of the electronic media. Prerequisite: Junior standing.
450. BROADCAST REGULATION. 3 cr. The study of electronic media law and of the Federal Communications Commission's rules and procedures, including an examination of current trends of the Commission and the possible effect of each of these on the industry and society. Prerequisite: Junior standing.

504. ELECTRONIC MEDIA CRITICISM. 3 cr. Critical methodologies and analysis of electronic media content and programming with emphasis on aesthetic, historical, social, cultural, and industrial factors affecting audience response.
508. INTERNSHIP. 1-3 cr. Maximum, 3 hrs. On-the-job supervisory experience in the electronic or film media. Students will have responsibility for over-seeing projects in their respective facets of the industry appropriate for their educational level and achievements. Application must be made in the first month of the semester prior to enrolling in RTVF 508. A maximum of three combined credit hours in RTVF 408, 415, 432, and 508 can be applied toward the graduate degree plan. Prerequisite: Completion of 12 hours or more toward graduate degree plan, and approval of faculty advisory committee.
520. EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES. 3 cr. Exploration of electronic communication technologies as they develop.
525. SEMINAR IN RADIO, TELEVISION, AND FILM. 3 cr. Maximum, 6 hrs. Scholarly, in-depth research of contemporary subjects in the electronic and/or film media. Topics will vary from semester to semester.
529. VIDEO PRODUCTION FOR PROFESSIONALS. 3 cr. Training in the use and applications of video in education, personnel training, management, employee relations, etc. Lecture/laboratory format with emphasis on hands-on studio and field applications. A $10 fee is charged each student to help defray expenses related to this course.
530. ISSUES IN AND IMPACT OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA AND FILM. 3 cr. An investigation of contemporary social, moral, ethical, and political issues of electronic and film media and their effects on society and the individual.
540. COMPARATIVE BROADCASTING. 3 cr. A study of international electronic media systems, philosophies, methodologies and their comparative strengths and weaknesses, including their current and potential sociological, political, and economic effects.
591. DIRECTED STUDY. 1-3 cr. Maximum, 6 hrs. Individualized study in the electronic or film media. Prerequisite: Approval of department head.
